2017 Chevrolet Cruze vs Honda Civic: Which Is Better?

By  |

Earlier today, we managed to get a tour around the next-gen Chevrolet Cruze sedan and were surprised by the build quality of the vehicle. We then begin to wonder if the Cruze has got what it takes to challenge the tenth generation Honda Civic, hence the comparison below.

Size-wise, the Cruze is slightly bigger than the Civic but its interior is about 1cu-ft smaller than the Civic. Even so, we actually prefer the interior of the Cruze of the Civic because it oozes quality. You can tell from the smooth base sound produced when closing the door.

Under the hood, the Cruze runs on the newly developed turbocharged 1.4L 4-ylinder engine. The mill is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and this allows the car to develop up to 153hp and 177ft-lbs of torque. Sure, the Cruze might be about 21hp short of the Civic but it has got 15ft-lbs more torque to offer.

The Cruze can sprint from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds and this is about a full second short of the Civic’s 6.6 seconds timing. The only thing we don’t like about the Cruze is the sedan style. In its hatchback form, we would pick the Cruze over the Civic. What about you?

Yep this class cars is all about 0-60mph times…. Sarcasm. MPG is usually what matters in this class, and both are an even match(35mpg combined average), 31city/42highway.

The biggest difference the Civic has a CVT transmission which for some is a deal breaker. The chevy uses a standard 6 speed torque converter auto transmission.
