2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Isn’t The Type-R You’re Looking For
The all-new Honda Civic Hatchback is currently getting distributed in the US and many are excited for the vehicle. This cannot be helped as the hatchback variant has a design which the future Civic Type-R will be based on.
As good as the Civic Hatchback sounds, it would be a mistake to think of the car as a preview of the Civic Type-R. Sure, the Civic Hatchback may have plenty of power to offer but its performance is not even close to the Civic Type-R.
The Civic Hatchback will be relying on a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is packed with 174hp to offer, just like the sedan variant. If the hatchback is truly going to be a preview of the Type-R model, then it will need more than 174hp. Otherwise, the car is nothing more than just a Type-R looking vehicle that runs like the Civic sedan.
In short, the Civic Hatchback is not that Type-R preview many thought it will be. The Civic Type-R will be showing why it is worlds apart from the ordinary Civic when it arrives next year.
