2017 Mazda CX-9 Has Honda Pilot In Its Scope!

By  |

The Mazda CX-9 is weeks away from its official release and the SUV promise plenty of new and improved features as well as performance. We are certainly excited for the CX-9 and we can’t wait to see how the vehicle will compare to the current segment leader, the Honda Pilot.

Both the CX-9 and the Pilot compete in the same SUV segment and their primary attributes are reliability, affordability and practicality. On the performance front, the CX-9 holds a big promise as it looks set to become Mazda’s first car that relies on turbocharged SkyActive engines.

If the rumours are to be referred to, the CX-9’s new powertrain is a 2.5L turbo-4 engine that can develop 227hp and 310ft-lbs of torque. The CX-9 can also return 20% more fuel than the previous generation model.

While this might sound like an upgrade, it is still lacking the numbers that can convince us on why it is better than the Pilot. Perhaps, it is better to wait until we are able to perform a full hands-on comparison involving the Pilot and the CX-9.
