2017 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Beats Honda Civic In Popularity Contest

By  |

A couple of months ago, Subaru launched the all-new Impreza Hatchback here in the US and it saw the car getting a lot of love from the public. This cannot be helped as the Impreza Hatchback is built on a brand new platform that is much more rigid than before.

This means that the Impreza is able to offer greater safety, something which consumers are demanding for. Furthermore, the Impreza Hatchback is equipped with a brand new 2L boxer-4 engine that can develop 152hp and 145ft-lbs of torque. This is quite a nice balance for a compact car.

But despite all the goodness that is with the Impreza Hatchback, the all-new Honda Civic Hatchback appears to be the more attractive choice. The latter had just made its debut and it is offered with the award winning 1.5L turbo-4 engine which can develop 174hp. What’s best about it is that the Civic Hatchback can also return up to 42mpg in fuel economy.

The specs sheet confirms that the Civic Hatchback is the better car but the polls are suggesting otherwise. In a popularity contest conducted by Autoguide, a whopping 69% of voters sided with the Impreza thus leaving the Civic Hatchback with only 545 votes.

We see this as nothing more than a hate magnet because the poll has no influence in sales of both cars. The obvious says that the Civic Hatchback will sell exceptionally well like how it is with the normal Civic.
