2017 Subaru Impreza vs Honda Civic: A Hatchback’s Affair

2017 has been a very exciting year for the automotive industry, especially in the hatchback scene. Despite not being as popular as SUVs, crossovers and sedans, hatchbacks are growing in numbers and the choices available keeps getting more attractive.

Two names that are worth mentioning are the 5-door Subaru Impreza and the Honda Civic Hatchback. Both vehicles are now selling like hotcakes but which of them deserves your money more? Forgive us for ruining the suspense but the answer here is the Honda Civic Hatchback.

This cannot be helped as the Civic is just better than the Impreza in the hatchback scene. The car looks better, performs better and is also more practical for daily driving.

Inside the cabin, the Civic Hatchback is offered with leather upholstery, something which isn’t available on the Impreza. The Civic also brags greater cargo volume at 25.7 cubic feet whereas the Impreza is limited to 21 cubic feet.

Under the hood, the Civic Hatchback relies on the award winning 1.5L turbocharged engine which can churn out up to 180hp. This mill can also return 42mpg in fuel economy. The Impreza Hatchback is also behind as the 2L mill it runs on can only offer 152hp, 145ft-lbs of torque and return up to 38mpg in fuel economy.

It goes to say that the Civic Hatchback is a better choice all around and the only reason for you to get the Impreza Hatchback is if you are a big fan of Subaru.
