2018 Audi Q5 Trashes Mercedes GLC, BMW X3 Early On

Every passing day brings us closer to the arrival of the 2018 Audi Q5 but we don’t have to wait until the SUV’s debut to know that the vehicle is much better than the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3.

Audi has already dropped the powertrain details for the upcoming Q5 and from it, we can confirm that the SUV is more powerful and economical than the GLC and X3.

The Q5 has a combined estimate of 25mpg, which beats out the RWD versions of both the GLC300 and X3 sDrive28 pegged at 24mpg combined. The 2L TFSI turbo-4 engine which the Q5 runs on, can also churn out 252hp and 273lb-ft torque, higher than the equivalent GLC (241hp, 273lb-ft torque) and X3 (240hp, 260lb-ft torque).

From the figures alone, we can see that the Q5 is already the more attractive choice when compared to its rivals.

But of course, driving character, dynamics and in-cabin comfort are still important in determining the best luxury SUV in the segment hence we may have to wait until the Q5 make its debut before we can truly name it the champion against the GLC and X3.
