2018 BMW M550i xDrive Is Hungry For Mercedes-AMG E43
The ongoing New York Auto Show played host to a number of interesting reveals and one of them is the upcoming BMW M550i with xDrive. The latter gained a lot of attention when it got exhibited in New York and this is down to the fact that the M550i xDrive is the fastest 5-Series ever produced by BMW.
BMW didn’t waste any time to share that the M550i xDrive is powered by the M Performance-tuned 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine that can develop 456hp and 480ft-lbs of torque. Power is managed by an eight-speed automatic Sport Steptronic gearbox and they are sent to all-four wheels.
The performance stats are not out yet but based on the figures above, it is highly likely for the M550i to complete a 0-60mph sprint in under 4 seconds. Prices, on the other hand, are expected to start at $72,100.
While the M550i may be more expansive than the popular Mercedes-AMG E43, the power difference between the two cars is really huge thus making the M550i looking worth the extra $7000. The extra 60hp and promising 0-60mph times of the M550i is enough for us to confirm that the car is stronger than the Mercedes-AMG E43.
