2018 Chevrolet Malibu vs Honda Accord: Midsized Meltdown

By  |

The Honda Accord is no longer the bestselling midsized sedan as its position has been taken over by rival Toyota Camry. However, the gap in sales between the two car is not huge and this means that the Accord can bounce back.

Honda is already working to make them happen when they promised more upgrades coming with the 2018 Accord. The next Accord will be offered with a number of trims to choose from and we are pleased to know that there will be a V6 option that can churn out 278hp.

With such a recipe, we can expect the Accord to return stronger sales in the future to come. It then struck us. What about the Chevrolet Malibu? The American midsized sedan has already been upgraded but sales of the car are quite a distance behind the Accord.

For 2018, the Chevrolet Malibu will continue to depend on two powertrain options. The first is a 1.5L turbo-4 mill and the second is a 2L mill. The latter is simply more attractive as it can develop 250hp and 260ft-lbs of torque.
The balanced figures may look attractive for the Malibu but will it be enough to challenge the Honda Accord V6? It will all go down to reliability, brand reputation and also personal preferences.
