2018 Ford Fiesta: Can Crossover Makeover Do Better?

By  |

Ford has launched the all-new generation Fiesta but it is unfortunate to know that the subcompact hatchback is not going to debut here in the US. Ford explained that the subcompact scene is a niche market in the states hence they are unwilling to sell the new Fiesta here.

We agree that subcompacts are not popular in the US but despite being described as a niche market, the previous generation Fiesta was able to achieve 60,000 units sold on average for every year.

This is a respectable number hence we find Ford’s excuse to not bring the new Fiesta over as something very weak. After doing some digging, we learned that Ford is working on a way to bring the EcoSport over in the US.

The EcoSport is a subcompact crossover that can rival the Mazda CX-3 and if it does get released next year, we can safely assume that the Fiesta’s exit is meant for the EcoSport.

Crossovers are the in-thing at the moment but we just don’t see the EcoSport as being the better car when compared to the Fiesta. Should the EcoSport fail to find success, then we can bet Ford will bring back the Fiesta in the future to come.
