2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Taking Inspiration From Nissan GT-R?
It is no secret that Ford is currently building the next-gen Mustang Shelby GT500 and the pony car is projected to arrive next year. The next GT500 promises more power as it looks to rely on a brand new EcoBoost V6 mill.
The V6 mill will be accompanied with two turbochargers and it will allow the car to develop more than 600hp. Having 600 horses from a v6 might sound difficult to achieve unless Ford has found a breakthrough in the turbocharging technology.
Well, if the rumours are to be referred to, Ford is actually offering a new driving system on the GT500 and it will be very similar to the Nissan GT-R. The front steering spindles on the GT500 will have splines designed for CV shafts. Hence, the vehicle will be a front engine with a rear transaxle and a driveshaft that goes to the front.
It is a setup that was made famous by the Nissan GT-R and it looks like Ford is going to apply it on the next GT500. But of course, Ford has yet to confirm anything regarding the above hence you should take it with a grain of salt.
