2018 Ford Shelby GT500 Could Steal From Nissan GT-R
There are already countless spy shots and videos on the next-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 but none of them are able to explain the mechanics of the car. The only certainty right now is that the GT500 looks likely to run on the 5L V8 engine and there will also be an EcoBoost variant coming..
Today, an insider from Ford was loud in claiming that the GT500’s driving mechanism has also evolved to be better optimized for power and handling. The surprising thing here is that the setup will be akin to that of the Nissan GT-R.
The insider quoted that the front steering spindles on the GT500 will have splines designed for CV shafts. Hence, the vehicle will be a front engine with a rear transaxle and a driveshaft that goes to the front. This is exactly like the mechanism that is adopted by the Nissan GT-R.
But of course, Ford has yet to unveil the next-gen GT500 hence we can’t be sure on the above until the vehicle gets released. Although, we do love to hear on what you think of the GT500 with a Nissan GT-R-like setup.
