2018 Honda Accord: Tampered Performance Hints On Si Trim!

What is the main thing that separates the Honda Civic Si from the standard, range-topping Civic? The answer is with the power output of both cars.

Despite running on the same 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the standard Civic can only develop 180hp whereas the Si model is tuned to offer 205hp. The noticeable change here is with the engine tune and the extra horsepower on the Si makes it quicker than the standard model.

With this in mind, we can’t help but to expect a similar scenario with the next Accord. Honda has already confirmed that the long-serving V6 has been replaced with a Type R-sourced 2L turbo-4. However, the latter has been detuned to maximize on the daily driving experience.

There is no doubt that the mill will get tuned up again when Honda decides to offer a sportier Accord in the future. Tentatively-known as the Accord Si, the more powerful midsized sedan could be targeting 290hp from the same 2L mill.

Such an outcome would make Honda predictable as it would mean repeating the same development cycle. So, will the Accord Si happen?
