2018 Hyundai Sonata Facelift Narrows It Against Camry!

The Toyota Camry has always been the benchmark in the midsized sedan and this is why we have chosen the car to measure how good the newest Hyundai Sonata Facelift is.

Hyundai had just released the Sonata Facelift and it amazed us to see the vehicle being better than the Camry on several departments.

For starters, the design of the Sonata Facelift looks a lot better than the Camry as it has a premium style with the right amount of sportiness. But in the Camry’s defence, the car has always been decent looking with nothing praiseworthy on the design front.

Moving on to the inside of the vehicle, Hyundai did a mighty fine job in giving the Sonata Facelift an upmarket finish. The leather seats and lighting effect gives off a luxurious feel which can’t be found on the Camry. Furthermore, the Sonata Facelift has more cabin and cargo space to offer than its Japanese counterpart. There is no questioning comfort on the Sonata.

Last but not least is the performance of the Sonata Facelift. Unfortunately, the car is a level is a level behind the Camry. The range-topping Sonata Facelift relies on a 2L turbo-4 mill that can develop 245hp and 260ft-lbs of torque. This setup can also return up to 37mpg. The range-topping Camry has a powerful V6 engine that can develop 301hp and return more than 50mpg at best.

It is not bad from Hyundai as the Sonata is able to come close to the Camry’s offering. At this rate, it won’t be long until the Sonata can compete with the Camry on equal terms.
