2018 Jeep Wrangler: China Takeover Is Not The End Of The World

By  |

Fiat-Chrysler attempt at finding a new merger deal has sparked strong interest in the acquisition of Jeep from a China-based carmaker and this is something which the majority of Jeep fans are against.

Well, fans can breathe easy for now as both FCA and Great Wall have yet to start negotiating. Even if the China carmaker is to make a swift buyout for Jeep, it won’t be the end of the Wrangler.

Many speculated that Jeep will be in deep CAFÉ trouble once it moves out of Fiat-Chrysler and this is likely to come true. However, it won’t be the end of Jeep as the direction which they are taking right now may soften the CAFÉ problems which may surface in the future.

In case you are unaware, the next-gen Wrangler has received approval to run on diesel. The turbocharged diesel mill will aid in leveraging the average emission of Jeep’s vehicles thus softening the impact of stricter CAFÉ regulations.

It will be interesting to see how everything will play out if FCA decides to sell Jeep. More importantly, we would definitely prefer Jeep going solo instead of being part of FCA or Great Wall.
