2018 Mazda 6: Android Auto & Apple Carplay May Cause Its Demise!

Mazda is about to revolutionize their line-up further as they have found the formula that can make HCCI SkyActiv engines work on their cars. The next-gen Mazda 3 will be introducing this setup and other models are expected to follow suit in the near future.

Among them is Mazda 6, which is expected to get replaced with a new generation model late next year. The Mazda 6 is a great car in its own rights but 2017 has not been so kind to the car on the sales front.

This cannot be helped as the 6 is falling behind rival midsized sedans on the feature front. One example is with Android Auto & Apple Carplay, which is still an absentee on the Mazda 6.

Mazda has revealed that they will give the 6 a mild upgrade for its final year but it is unlikely for the carmaker to add in Android Auto & Apple CarPlay onto the vehicle. This is because the addition would do better if introduced with a brand new infotainment system. An upgrade of that magnitude is best reserved for a new-generation model.

The only question is will the absence of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the Mazda 6 hurt the car’s sales in 2018?
