2018 Nissan Leaf: Could This Be It?

By  |

It is no longer a secret that Nissan is developing the next-gen Leaf but what can we expect from the vehicle? The fact that Nissan has not release any hints makes guessing on the things coming to the Leaf a tough task to do but that is no longer the case today thanks to a new leak that surfaced online.

The leak basically shows Nissan EV targets and they see two different competitions which they want to participate in. The first competition involves EV cars that rely on a 60kWh battery or anything larger. The second consists of EV cars that run on a smaller battery pack.

Now, we already know that the Renault-Nissan Alliance will be developing more EV vehicles badged as a Renault with a smaller battery pack. This leaves the large batteries for a car from Nissan – most likely the Leaf.

After looking at the latest spy shots on the Leaf, we can also expect the car to be more like the IDS concept from last year. We can see the IDS influence on the future Leaf through its styling. Knowing that the IDS is equipped with a 60kWh battery, we are fully expecting the same battery pack to feature on the Leaf.

The above should help paint a rough idea on what the Leaf will have to offer when it arrives towards the end of 2017. But of course, we must advice you to take it with a grain of salt, at least until Nissan officially unveils the future Leaf at a major event.
