2018 Porsche 911 Caught Flirting With 700hp But With A Catch
The Porsche 911 has always been a top choice for driving enthusiasts and this is due to the no-nonsense performance which the car has to offer. So when we suddenly heard about a brand new 911 with a whopping 700hp to offer coming out later this year, we can’t help but getting overexcited for it.
A batch of new spy shots from the Nurburgring saw a different kind of 911 getting tested on the track and it is said to be the GT2. The reports also mentioned that the 911 GT2 “is likely to become the most powerful and extreme road going 911 produced yet, when it arrives in the coming months.”
While not official yet, every major automotive source agreed that the 911 GT2 will have no less than 700hp to offer from a flat-6 engine and this will give the car the ability to sprint from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds.
The numbers are just remarkable and everything about the vehicle sounds exciting – until we learned that there’s a catch with the 911 GT2. It appears that the car will only be offered with a PDK gearbox and there won’t be any manual option.
This can be quite disappointing for driving enthusiasts, especially since the 911 has never given up on manual. But before you lose hope, you should know that there is a possibility for the 911 GT2 to receive an “R-variant” that will operate with a manual gearbox.
