2018 Toyota Camry Moves Against Android, iOS Takeover

The tech world is dominated by two names and they are Apple iOS and Google Android. The widespread usage of both system has resulted in a rapid expansion like no other.

Earlier this year, we have heard several automakers collaborating with either Google or Apple to develop an exclusive infotainment system. The good news here is that not all makes are tied to this trend and Toyota is among those that are against complete Android and iOS takeover.

Toyota revealed that they have developed a brand new infotainment system that is based on Linux. This means that the touchscreen slate will be as smooth and efficient as your average smartphone. Furthermore, the fact that the system is developed by Toyota means that the applications on the slate will be carefully tuned for the car.

The icing on the cake is with the infotainment’s system ability to pair with an Android-powered smartphone or an iOS-powered device. The system will be equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The new infotainment system is said to make its debut on the next-gen Camry later this year and we can’t wait to experience its offerings.
