2018 Volkswagen Atlas: Cheaper Pilot, CX-9 Alternative

By  |

The Volkswagen Atlas is one of the most anticipated SUVs here in the US and it is bound to arrive in the second half of this year. The best part about it is that the Atlas is going to be a lot cheaper to own when compared to the segment average and this may give it a strong advantage over its rivals.

As how it was announced in Detroit earlier today, the Atlas will retail from $30,000. This is quite a huge surprise if you are to consider that prices of the Honda Pilot starts at $31,000. Even the Mazda CX-9 will be sweating over it as their price tag starts at $42,000.

The $30,000 will be for the base model Atlas which runs on a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It is also worth noting that the $30,000 Atlas operates on FWD.

If you fancy something better, there is the SEL trim that operates on a V6 engine with AWD. The SEL trim is obviously more expansive to own than the base trim but it will be worth it if you are to consider that the basic model is cheaper than the segment average.
