2018 Volkswagen Jetta May Surprise Honda Civic With Audi TT’s Power

It has been 6 years since Volkswagen launched the sixth generation Jetta and it is about time for a new generation model to get produced. The next-gen Jetta is now being closely linked to making its official debut in Q4 this year and it may just be the car that can bring the fight to the Honda Civic.

The tenth generation Civic has never stopped achieving great sales figures and things had just gotten better after Honda launched the Civic hatchback and the Civic Si. The latter, in particular, is seen as the car to beat as the vehicle can offer great performance without hurting fuel economy.

It won’t be an easy task for the next-gen Jetta but they really can outdo the Civic and the Civic Si. Various leaks, rumors and insider reports are all claiming that the range-topping Jetta will feature the 230hp 2L TFSI engine that is sourced from the base Audi TT and this will certainly be enough for the car to edge past the Civic Si on the performance front. However, some work is still needed to ensure that the Jetta can also compete on the economic front.

The thought of it is certainly exciting but the fact that Volkswagen has yet to share any details on the next-gen Jetta means you should take the above with a grain of salt. All will be confirmed once the Jetta makes its debut later this year.
