2019 Chevrolet Silverado Provokes The Meaning Of Downsizing!

Gas emission regulations have gotten stricter in the past couple of years and this has pressured more carmakers to downsize their engine line-ups. It also explains why V8s are turning into a rare sight for affordable cars as V6s and 4-cylinders turns into the staple size for the mass-market.

But for GM’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, the pickup truck is not letting the huge pressures to downsize spoil its performance. GM has confirmed that the upcoming Silverado will arrive with a new mill that will have a capacity of 2.7L.

This is really huge for a 4-banger and the aim here is to reduce the performance strain that comes with utilizing a small mill on a large vehicle like the Silverado.

Such a setup will also suggest that the 2.7L 4-cylinder engine won’t do any better than an ordinary V6 when it comes to offering better gas mileage. If this is to be the case, the 4-pot unit for the Silverado is probably made to satisfy regulators’ call to downsize.
