2019 Chevy Silverado: Light Duty Diesel The Answer To Slumping Sales?

By  |

Things are not looking so good for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at the moment as it is far behind the F-150 on the sales front. If that is not bad enough, the Silverado has been outsold by the RAM 1500.

A quick solution is clearly needed in order for the Silverado to remain competitive in the pickup truck market and GM believes that the answer is with diesels. Unlike the F-150 and RAM 1500, the Silverado 1500 is not offered with a diesel mill but this will look to change in the near future.

A Silverado 1500 prototype was spotted testing on public roads and the vehicle was also seen re-fuelling with diesel. Chevrolet may not have mentioned anything about it by the spy shots are enough to confirm that a Silverado 1500 diesel is coming.

The details are not out yet but many are already speculating the diesel motor to be a 3L turbo-diesel V6. We can expect Chevrolet to start spilling the beans on the diesel-powered Silverado in the very near future.
