2019 Corvette ZR1 vs Dodge Viper ACR: Time For A New Icon?

By  |

Dodge has discontinued the Viper ACR but the car continues to be the name in the heads of the average American when it comes to patriotic performance.

Today, however, the attention has shifted over to the next-gen Corvette ZR1 after Chevrolet pulled the curtains of the vehicle for the second time this year at the ongoing LA Auto Show.

This time however, Chevrolet has got something new to share and it is with the price of the Corvette ZR1. The carmaker once said that the next ZR1 will retail near the MSRP of its predecessor and they are pretty much spot on with that target.

As how it was confirmed by Chevy, the next-gen ZR1 will retail from $119,955. For a vehicle with a whopping 13 heat exchangers, 0-60mph time of under-3 seconds and 755hp, the pricing is considered to be low and it will only benefit the consumers.

Speaking of whom, many have made it clear that they would want to see the Corvette ZR1 competing with the Dodge Viper ACR on the tracks. The quoted performance of the ZR1 has confirmed that the car is on the same level with the Viper ACR hence the desire to see the two cars tear each other apart.

While that is bound to happen one day, we can’t help but to think that the Viper ACR will still win regardless of how good the Corvette ZR1 is. This is due to the fact that the Viper ACR has significantly lower downforce thus making it much better track car.

But of course, a race still needs to happen for us to confirm on this.
