2019 Toyota Supra: Status Dilemma Brings Debate ‘Luxury vs Affordable’

By  |

The next-gen Toyota Supra is one of the most anticipated cars in the world right now and it is expected to come out next year. Despite the excitement that comes with the wait for the next Supra, many are worried that the vehicle may end up being a disappointment.

For starters, the Toyota 86 has shown that the carmaker is still unable to live up to the definition of today’s performance. Despite having good handling, the 86 lacks power hence the worry for something similar to plague the Supra.

Then, there is the debate of affordable versus luxury. Some sources cited that the Supra will be an affordable car, although it will also be the most expansive vehicle in Toyota’s line-up when released. Other rumours claim that the Supra will be a high-end performance vehicle, in the same wave with the Acura NSX and Nissan GT-R.

If the latter is going to be the case, it will bring another question about badging. Expansive cars from Toyota wear the Lexus badge and it will be interesting to see how this pans out for the next Supra.

Seeing that the car is being developed alongside the BMW Z4, there is a much bigger chance for the Supra to go down the supercar route instead of being an affordable monster. The only way to know for sure is through checking out the Supra when it makes its debut. Only Toyota knows when that will happen.
