2019 Volkswagen Jetta: Golf Transplant Reserved For ‘GTI’ Trim?

The next-gen Volkswagen Jetta has finally made its official unveiling but the reception towards the car has been underwhelming.

While the majority may like the Jetta’s new look and torquey setup, driving enthusiasts have made it known that they are unhappy with the lack of horses on the compact vehicle.

In case you are unaware, the Jetta has got 147hp and 184ft-lbs of torque to offer from a 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder mill, and this makes it inferior to the segment-leader, the Honda Civic. The only department where the Jetta wins is torque count but this is only by a narrow margin.

Folks that are disappointed with the Jetta felt that it would’ve have been better if the vehicle is to rely on the turbo-4 mill from the Golf. Such a setup can grant the Jetta with 170hp and 199ft-lbs of torque thus making the car more competitive towards the Honda Civic.

We are pretty sure that Volkswagen is aware of it and perhaps, they have decided to reserve the Golf transplant for a higher-end Jetta. Could it be a Jetta GTI?
