Alfa Romeo Picking Fights With Acura MDX, VW Atlas
Out of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan comes the Stelvio crossover. Both are built on the same platform and have what it takes to upset the German rivals in their respective segments, especially when it comes to their 505hp Quadrifoglio models.
The automaker is not done yet, of course. It’s still working on a rival to the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series sedans, besides a three-row crossover to contend with the likes of the Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLS.
However, according to Carscoops, that might not be the case. It seems that in order not to occupy the space that’s reserved for a bigger brother to the Maserati Levante, the three-row Alfa would be taking aim at the likes of the less luxurious Volkswagen Atlas, Acura MDX instead. Perhaps the Volvo XC90 would be in its crosshairs as well.
Alfa would eventually need to introduce a successor to the 4C coupe but if the brand intends to stamp its mark in the US, a larger SUV would be the more urgent priority. In the meantime, it’s up to the Giulia and Stelvio to make a strong first impression in the market to make the Alfa brand relevant again.
