Chevrolet Silverado: New Turbo-4 Is Creating A Real Scare!

By  |

GM shook the world earlier this week when they announced on a new engine for the Chevrolet Silverado and it is one that has four pots as well as a turbocharger.

In detail, the mill will be a 2.7L 4-cylinder turbo and this itself is creating a real scare for fans of the pickup trucks. This is solely due to the fact that 4-cylinder engines are borderline good when applied on large vehicles. With the Silverado commonly used for a beating, the 4-pot setup may end up with a strained performance.

GM is likely to be aware of this and their solution is to grant the 4-cylinder engine a greater displacement. 2.7L is pretty huge for a 4-pot setup and it can help ease the strains. But why exactly is GM going through a lot of trouble to make it happen?

This is the real question here and many have speculated that it is due to the goal of having the Silverado achieving 30mph in fuel economy. If this is to be the case, then there is another scare of failure because the 4-pot setup on the smaller Colorado can’t even do better than 26MPG.

Well, we hope to be surprised.
