Corvette ZR1 Actually Played A Role In Porsche 911 GT3 RS Lap Run!

About a week ago, Porsche stole the headlines with the all-new 911 GT3 RS after the company sent the car to Nurburgring to create new lap records.

The 911 GT3 RS is a car that is inferior to a number of vehicles, including that of the 918 Spyder, but it has a revolutionary handling setup that has allowed it to clock the fastest lap time around the legendary Ring.

Right at the moment where the record was shattered, we joked about the Corvette C7 ZR1 returning to the US as they have been eclipsed by Porsche’s accomplishment.

The latest ZR1 was spotted at the Ring earlier this month preparing for an official best lap attempt but there has yet to be any follow ups by Chevrolet on the matter.

Well, that is no longer the case today as the Chevrolet has spoken up and they revealed that they played a role in the 911 GT3 RS’s Ring achievement. The carmaker revealed that they allowed Porsche to use their Ring session to create the new record.

When question on when the ZR1 will be making its official attempt, the engineers deflect a specific answer by quoting soon. At least it’s good to know that the Corvette ZR1 is not ejecting their goal.
