Corvette ZR1: Is It Time To Move Past Dodge Viper?

By  |

GM grabbed the headlines in November last month when it brought out the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and many are happy with what the car has to offer.

It cannot be avoided as the ZR1 is able to stick to its old pricing having significant improvements made to its performance. Aside from the overpopulated heat exchangers, the ZR1 runs on a V8 engine that can develop 755hp.

This basically confirms that the ZR1 is more powerful and can last longer around the track than its predecessor. For all we know, the new ZR1 may just be that perfect replacement for the outdated American icon – the Dodge Viper.

The Viper had just been discontinued but its accomplishments have made it difficult to see a new vehicle going above and beyond. On the numbers, the new ZR1 certainly looks more promising than the Viper but in our eyes, we still feel that the Viper has an edge around the track than GM’s new hero.

The way we see it, the Viper is still better around the track as it has significantly lower downforce and this is crucial in a race. But of course, the only way to find out is to have both the Viper and ZR1 in a showdown around a track and put this debate to rest.
