Dodge Durango SRT vs Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT: Has Jeep Lost It?

By  |

It is official. Dodge has launched the all-new Durango SRT and the SUV is described by many as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT’s twin. This cannot be helped as both the Durango and the Grand Cherokee share the same mill and platform.

The Durango SRT is equipped with the trademark SRT mill and it is tuned to offer 475hp and 470ft-lbs of torque. Despite being near-identical to the Grand Cherokee SRT, the Durango SRT looks like it is the better choice as it is able to offer greater speed.

The Durango SRT can hit 60mph from standstill 0.4 seconds quicker than the Grand Cherokee SRT. Furthermore, the Durango SRT can tow an additional 1,400 pounds in weight. If you are still not convinced, the Durango SRT offers greater versatility since it comes with 3 rows of seats.

The killing blow to the Grand Cherokee SRT is with the price of the Durango SRT. Despite being better in almost every department, the Durango SRT cost $64,090 and this is about $4,000 cheaper than the Grand Cherokee SRT.

What dodge should do is go ahead and offer the hellcat version of the Durango SRT as well since Jeep will no longer be using the srt moniker.
