Failing Elantra Hands Hyundai A Huge Ultimatum!

South Korean cars have been growing in numbers here in the US and this is led by the success of the Hyundai Elantra. The compact car is the bestselling Korean car on this soil and this is turning into a problem for Hyundai.

The reason is because the Elantra has not been doing well lately with monthly sales being locked into the red zone. April 2018, last month, saw no change to this pattern as Hyundai only managed to move 14,044 Elantra – down from 16,346 achieved last year. If that is not bad enough, the YTD sales have dipped by a significant margin of 13.4%.

Market watchers are tipping that the decline will continue for the Elantra as consumers in the US are now biased towards SUVs, CUVs and crossovers instead of compact cars and sedans.

Come to think of it, Ford recently made it known that they will phase out most of their sedan models to cater to the demand for utility-oriented vehicles. If the Elantra is to continue plunging, Hyundai may be forced to take on a path that is similar to Ford.
