Ford Ranger Spells Trouble For Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon

By  |

GM may have taken a large share in the midsized pickup truck scene but their position in the segment is still not safe. This is because the competition is about to get stiffer as Ford is preparing to launch the next-gen Ranger.

After many years of absence, the popular Ranger is finally making a return through a new generation model and the vehicle is targeting a Q1 2018 release.

Ford has confirmed that the next-gen Ranger will be very close to the global model. To make it extra special for the US market, the Ranger will incorporate some features from the F-150. The latter is already trouncing GM in the full-sized pickup segment hence its influence on the Ranger may eat up sales of the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon.

But of course, the above is nothing more than a measurement of the Ranger’s potential. Whether the Ranger can really bring doom to the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon is a question that will be answered next year.
