Honda Civic Type R: Proper Affordability Is A Year-Late!

By  |

What is there not to like about the latest Honda Civic Type R? The answer is dealer mark-ups. The Civic Type R has nailed it on the MSRP, performance and daily drivability but everything feels pointless when dealers have doubled the retail price of the sports hatch.

The dealer mark-ups came in like a plague and this has prevented many interested buyers from adopting the Civic Type R. Well, if you are among them, you should not give up just yet because the dealer mark-ups will eventually go away.

A dealer employee revealed on an automotive forum that it is normal for major dealers to spike the price of a newly released sports car and we have seen it happened with the Ford Focus RS, Volkswagen Golf R and also the Subaru WRX STI.

All these vehicles were really expansive to own in their debut year but they all swapped the mark-ups for massive discounts a year after. So if the trend is to follow the Civic Type R, you can hope to see the car sticking to its sticker price next year.
