Hyundai i30 N: US Hopes Destroyed By Elantra GT!

Hyundai has already commenced deliveries of the i30 N worldwide but this is with the exception of the North American market. Here in the US, hatchbacks are considered as a niche market which explains why Hyundai is still indecisive on whether they should launch the i30 N in this region.

Today, it looks like it is more unlikely for the i30 N to debut in this country as Hyundai has confirmed on the Elantra GT. The Elantra GT is a hatchback and it will be offered in two trims – the GT and GT Sport.

The former is priced from $20,235 and it runs on a 161hp 2L 4-cylinder engine. As for the GT Sport, the $22,000 car will rely on a 1.6L turbo-4 engine that can develop 201hp. The latter, in particular, is the closest thing to the i30 N and if sales are good, it may convince Hyundai to bring the i30 N into the US.

The i30 N is the first road-legal performance-focused car produced by Hyundai and it promises to be the benchmark in the sports hatch department. It is also worth noting that the Elantra is the US version of the i30 but it is tuned to meet the preferences of the locals. Will the i30 N reaches out shores?
