Hyundai IONIQ vs Nissan Leaf: The Next-Gen Challenge
You may not have noticed it but the all-new Hyundai IONIQ EV is very similar to the Nissan Leaf. Both cars are compact in size and they run on an EV powertrain that is capable of offering about 120 miles of driving range.
Both Nissan and Hyundai are aware that the driving range of the IONIQ and Leaf is not good enough for next year and they are working on an upgrade for their respective vehicles. For Nissan, they want to build the next-gen Leaf and the vehicle is tipped to arrive in 2018 with more than 200 miles of driving range.
Hyundai, on the other hand, announced that they are working on a brand new EV powertrain that is capable of achieving more than 200 miles of driving range and it will be offered as an upgrade to the existing IONIQ EV.
The best part of them all is that both the 2018 IONIQ and Leaf are also promised to come with some autonomous technology. With the IONIQ and the Leaf being so similar to each other, we are really interested to find out which of the two will make the better choice. Can 2018 come any sooner?
