Kia Stinger Getting Laughed Off By Audi S5 & Infiniti Q50 RS
What is there not to like about the upcoming Kia Stinger GT? The South Korean carmaker has already pulled the curtains off the performance-focused car and we can confirm that the figures are really impressive.
In case you have missed it, the Stinger GT is equipped with a 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine that can develop 365hp and 376ft-lbs of torque. Together with a cutting edge cabin finish, Kia revealed that they their goal with the Stinger GT is to compete in the higher end league.
This means that the Stinger GT is more concerned about challenging the Audi S5 Sportsback and the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, rather than the Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS. Well, Audi is not waiting until the Stinger GT’s official release to dismiss the threat that comes with the car.
Audi’s marketing team simply pointed out that the S5 Sportsback has fewer pony counts but the car can still sprint faster than the Stinger GT. The former can touch 62mph from standstill at only 4.5 seconds while the latter can only manage 4.9 seconds.
If figures are all that matters, then even the Q50 Red Sport is better as the 3L twin-turbo engine it runs on can churn out 400hp. It goes to say that as good as the Kia Stinger GT is, the car is not exactly a real challenger in the upper league.
