Macan Proves That Porsche Is Still Mostly About The 911!

By  |

The Porsche Macan may have enjoyed big sales growth in 2017 but if you are to look at it from a different angle, the SUV may appear more disappointing than praise-worthy.

Before we get to that, you should know that Porsche has moved about 97,000 Macan globally and this translates to a 19% incline from the previous year.

While this may sound positive, you should note that Porsche has moved 32,000 911s in that same period of time. So, how does this make the Macan appear underwhelming?

For starters, the Macan is half the price of the 911 hence it is meant to achieve greater volume. Then, there is the fact that the Macan is an SUV – a segment that is a craze right now.

With that being said, a ratio of 3:1 between the Macan and the 911 is a clear sign that Porsche is still a brand for driving enthusiasts. Our perception would have changed if the ratio is by a greater margin. Also, We can’t think of any other make that enjoys a similar SUV: Sports Car ratio.

I agree that Porsche is for the driving enthusiasts. Article is not accurate, my 2016 911 Cabriolet S was $110, 000 wherein my 2017 Macon GTS was $90,000. All my friend purchasing Macans are doing the S model or higher . Point is the Macon is not half the price of 911
