Mercedes-AMG GTR vs Nissan GT-R: Who Deserves ‘GTR’ More?

By  |

R, RS, GTR. These are the common names that are used on cars to indicate their ability to go extremely fast.

Nissan managed to enjoy a huge image upgrade when they launched the GT-R a decade ago and now, Mercedes-AMG has decided to give their high-performing vehicle the same name. So, which of the two represents GTR better?

Our friends at CarWow is ahead of us on this front as they have already conducted a performance comparison involving both the latest Nissan GT-R and the Mercedes-AMG GTR in an attempt to find out the better GTR and they have shared with us on the result.

As how you can see in the video below, the AMG GTR managed to edge past Godzilla by 0.1 seconds and this is owed to the 4L twin-turbo V8 engine it runs on that is packed with 585hp and 700Nm of torque. The GT-R from Nissan has a V6 that can produce 570hp and 637Nm of torque.

So does this mean that the Mercedes-AMG GTR deserves the GTR title? Well, the answer to this still depends on the angle of your perception. Mercedes won the race hence the GTR title is theirs but the GT-R is an age-old car with a smaller V6 mill that only lost by a mere 0.1 second.
