Mercedes X-Class: Limited Launch Imminent If Chrysler Intervenes

Chrysler is slowly crawling back to their glory days following the launching of the Pacifica and they are now looking forward to develop more impactful vehicles in the near future.

In a recent interview with Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles, the company said that Chrysler is being tasked with the development of a pickup truck prototype. While no details were provided, it looks like FCA is anticipating the arrival of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class.

The latter is targeting a 2018 release and it desires to turn luxury pickup trucks into a massive trend worldwide. However, Mercedes has also said that they won’t rush to bring the X-Class into the US as they are unsure if there is a market for luxury pickup trucks in the US.

Well, it could also be that Mercedes is aware of the rough competition that may appear when the X-Class lands in the US. The local automakers are very familiar with pickup trucks and they can easily conjure a luxurious model to compete with the X-Class.

This is where Chrysler comes in and they won’t shy away from the X-Class – especially when knowing utility vehicles are the sole reason Fiat-Chrysler is still surviving on the sales front. The call is for Mercedes to make and it is not easy on the X-Class.
