Mercedes X-Class Unaffected By Acura Ridgeline’s Potential Development
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class looks set to become the world’s first luxury pickup truck and it is getting a lot of attention from the public. Heck, even carmakers too are curious to see on the sort of impact which the X-Class will create when it makes its debut and among them is Acura.
The luxury arm of Honda admitted that they are monitoring the X-Class closely. If all is to go well for the X-Class, Acura is hoping to participate in the new luxury pickup truck segment with a model of their own.
We will not be surprised if the pickup truck from Acura is based on the Ridgeline, just like how every other vehicle from Acura are the luxury version of the cars from Honda. The Ridgeline will be tweaked to offer more premium parts but we still don’t think that it will be enough to threaten the X-Class.
This is because the pickup truck from Mercedes will be completely fresh and new. The design is going to be very unique when compared to a traditional pickup truck and the way it drives is bound to be one-of-a-kind.
Tweaking a Honda Ridgeline just for the sake of having a luxury pickup truck won’t cut it, even if the vehicle is to adopt the SH-AWD drivetrain.
