Next Acura RDX To Pull Away From Honda Affiliations?

Honda’s luxury arm, Acura, has been struggling to make a name for itself in recent years and this is due to the company not showing enough ambition to compete with the industry’s finest.

When looking at rival makes, names like Lexus and Genesis have all prosper thanks to a rebranding that enables them to compete closer to the German greats. Meanwhile, Acura has been at the wrong end of the tide as they kept on basing their vehicles on Honda’s products.

Well, this is finally going to change as a report has confirmed that Acura will be building vehicles from the ground up in the near future and they have made progress through the development of a new platform that is exclusive to the brand.

Details on the platform are unknown at the moment but it is described to be in a single configuration – SH-AWD. Acura is tipped to make it official when they bring out the next-gen RDX, which is also the first vehicle to ride on the new platform.

The RDX has long been described as the Honda CR-V that has been refined with luxuries hence we are interested in seeing how the vehicle will be like when not based on the popular crossover from Honda. Let’s just hope that the design language won’t be weird or too excessive for the next RDX.
