Next Chevrolet Blazer: Ford Bronco & Jeep Wrangler Receive A Pass?

By  |

The 4×4 SUV segment is about to get a whole lot more interesting as Ford has promised to bring back the Bronco from the dead. The next-gen Bronco is confirmed to come out before 2020 and it will look to compete directly with the Jeep Wrangler.

Well, it looks like the Bronco is not the only iconic name from the past that is going to get revived in the near future. Recent weeks have seen more reports claiming that Chevrolet will also be bringing back an old name from the 90s – the Blazer. But if you’re expecting a three-way contest in the 4×4 scene, you best look elsewhere because the Blazer is unlikely to be part of it.

We say so because the rumors are indicating that the Blazer will be reborn as a midsized crossover. It won’t be a body-on-frame SUV that has 4WD and a V8 engine at all. The Blazer will be just a name at this point thus making it more likely for the revived model to be a FWD-based crossover targeting the mass market.

The only good news here is that everything surrounding the Blazer’s revival is based on rumors hence you should take it with a grain of salt. If the Blazer is truly making a return, we can expect to hear more about it in the coming year.
