Nissan Rogue vs Toyota RAV4: Is There Room For A Final Twist?

By  |

2017 cannot go any better for Nissan as the carmaker has achieved record-breaking sales figures globally. Most of the credits go to the latest Rogue which turned into a massive hit following its debut in January.

Well, we are now a month away from the end of 2017 and we may witness a twist on the sales as Toyota is narrowing the gap with Nissan. The second half of the year has seen the revival of the RAV4 in the market as the crossover bounced back to capture a large slice of sales.

The best numbers can be seen in August 2017 where the Rogue ended up with 10,000 units short of what the RAV4 has achieved. We mentioned back then that if the RAV4 is to maintain this momentum, they may just be able to sneak ahead of the Rogue at the final moments.

Well, perhaps Toyota heard us well because September 2017 also witnessed the RAV4 scoring bigger than the Rogue. In numbers, Toyota moved about 42,000 RAV4, which is about 4,000 units more than the Rogue.

The Rogue is still ahead on the YTD sales but the gap separating it and the RAV4 has narrowed drastically. This final two months will see if Nissan is truly able to outsell Toyota for the first time in modern history, or will they get stopped by the RAV4.
