Porsche Mission E Would Leave 911 Turbo In The Dirt

By  |

Porsche is unlike other automakers in that it is not giving up in its pursuit of challenging Tesla on the electric performance front. The upcoming Mission E that’s due at the start of the next decade wouldn’t simply be a good-looking alternative to the Tesla Model S.

Given that the hybrid Porsche Panamera is capable of dishing out 680hp, it’s easy to expect the Mission E to be capable of making Tesla sweat in regard of performance. Much like its Palo Alto rival, Porsche is mulling over the idea of letting buyers pay more to unlock more power from the Mission E via over-the-air software updates.

And it seems that the most potent Mission E, while not hot enough to beat the Panamera Hybrid for power, would surpass the 540hp Porsche 911 Turbo with more than 590hp. This should allow the all-electric sizzler to reach 60mph from a standstill in less than 3.5 seconds.

Another piece of good news for fans is that the Mission E is going to be cheaper than the Panamera, making it easier for buyers to side with eco-friendly performance without doing more damage to their bank accounts.
