RAM Trucks: Stay Away From Automatics!

By  |

RAM pickup trucks are not looking to great at the moment as they are now being recalled for a transmission fix. Fiat-Chrysler announced on the recall earlier today and the move involves a whopping 181,000 pickup trucks from RAM.

The issue is with the vehicles that are equipped with a steering-mounted automatic gear shifter that may not engage the gear ‘Park’ due to the overheating Brake Transmission Shift Interlock.

While the nature of the issue is different to the controversial automatic shifter on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the hazards are the same. The good news here is that no known accidents have been caused by the problem and FCA isn’t planning to welcome one.

However, the fact that the issue affects 2017-2018 model RAM pickup trucks suggests that the transmission problems have persisted within Fiat-Chrysler and the only way to avoid it for new customers is to get a model with manual.
