Subaru WRX STI vs Ford Focus RS: Faster Speed, Safer Lives

By  |

The arrival of the Ford Focus RS immediately saw the Subaru WRX STI’s freefall as the sports hatch managed to offer an all-rounded greater experience when compared to the Japanese sports sedan.

Subaru has acknowledged the fact that an update is needed in order to make the WRX STI great again and they have commenced working on upgrades for the vehicle.

Subaru teased that the next WRX STI will be built on a new platform and you can already see the new architecture through the brand new Impreza. The new architecture will open the doors to new possibilities and among them is better safety.

Subaru revealed that the architecture is 40% more rigid than before and this makes the Imrpeza a lot safer to drive. We can expect the WRX STI to offer the same rigidity thus making it a lot safer for racers to speed with the car.

It may not sound like a challenge to the Ford Focus RS but we are curious to find out how the sports hatchback will respond to this.

If the next WRX/STI included a hatchback version I would consider it. I want the extra internal carrying space and the roof carrying ability of a hatchback. Add a speed manual with a decent sunroof and it may get me off the fence.
