Tesla Model S Autopilot 2.0 Stunt Is Overated?
Earlier this week, Tesla announced that it will be updating the Autopilot system entirely and the newer version will have even greater autonomous capabilities. Tesla added that they will demonstrate it all through the Model S by getting the car to drive from LA to NYC.
It might sound like a huge stunt but we actually find it overrated based on what we have been hearing on the surface. For starters, we don’t see why the current Autopilot system can’t do so because the major highway linking LA and NYC are of high quality and this will complement the autonomous sensors.
In addition to that, the self-driving skills won’t be tested much as it will just be about the Model S cruising for a couple of days. Speaking of duration, a normal drive on a normal car will normally take 3 days to complete the journey. With the Model S needing charging times, the duration is expected to stretch until 5 days.
We just don’t see what the Model S can accomplish through demonstrating Autopilot 2.0 in this stunt. It would be better if Tesla simply place the Model S with Autopilot 2.0 in NYC and get to drive around the block while looking for a parking spot. Now that would be worth a watch.
