Toyota’s Baby Wrangler A Rebadged Suzuki Jimny?

Toyota has teased on the idea of expanding their SUV line-up further with more exciting vehicles and among them is the TJ Cruiser. Just like the discontinued FJ Cruiser, the TJ Cruiser will be an off-road-focussed SUV that will be used to compete with the Jeep Wrangler.

Today, new reports are found claiming that there will be another variant of the TJ Cruiser and it will be one that is significantly smaller in size. The word is that Toyota wants to diversify the body-on-frame SUV segment with a compact model and their champion will actually be the new generation Suzuki Jimny, rebadged as a Toyota for the American market.

The Jimny is a popular compact SUV over in Asia and photos of the next-gen model shows a lot of Wrangler in its design but in a smaller package. The Jimny may be utilized to compete with the Jeep Renegade and it will generate greater revenue for both Toyota and Suzuki.

But of course, there is no telling how accurate the reports are hence you should take the above with a grain of salt until an official statement from Toyota gets released.
