Volkswagen Atlas Guilty Of Being Overpriced?
The ongoing Detroit Auto Show saw Volkswagen revealing more on their next major product, the Atlas.
Today, we are able to learn on the price of the Atlas and we are pleased to know that the vehicle will be retailing from $30,000. This is really cheap if you are to compare it with other vehicles in the segment.
Despite the Atlas being very friendly to the pockets, there are some that see the $30,000 tag as something expansive. The handful of auto fans pointed out that the base Atlas runs on the Passat-sourced 2L turbo-4 and that said Passat retails from $23,000. It raises question marks on whether the Atlas deserves to be priced $7,000 higher than the Passat.
The way we see it, there is no wrong with the $30,000 tag on the Atlas. It is already cheaper than the segment average and this is a good thing.
Comparing the Atlas to the Passat can be said as comparing the BMW X5 with the 3-Series. The X5 is a lot more expansive than the 3-Series despite having similar powertrain options. SUVs simply cost higher than sedans and you got to accept it for what it is.
