Volkswagen Bus May Bury Chrysler Pacifica Ahead Of Schedule

By  |

It is official. Volkswagen news room has confirmed that the I.D Buzz will be turning into a production vehicle and 2020 looks to be the likely year for the vehicle to make its debut.

This is well ahead of the predicted year of 2022 and many are actually surprised that Volkswagen is pushing hard to develop the Bus. While the details are still murky regarding the vehicle, insiders have claimed that the Bus will be classified under the category minivan.

If this is true, the vehicle had just commenced Chrysler’s doomsday clock. Chrysler has been doing well with the latest generation Pacifica but their micro line-up has been tipped to be their downfall, especially once a carmaker is able to offer a real fighter for the vehicle.

The Bus may just fill in that role well and it gets more exciting when Volkswagen confirmed that the vehicle will have AWD, 369hp, a high-powered electric powertrain that consists of an electric motor on each axle, 300 miles of driving range and 80% charge in 30 minutes.

With all these variables combined, the Volkswagen Bus can definitely put the dieselgate scandal behind them and it may also lead to the end of the Pacifica.

I guess if you do not drive more than 300 miles at a time, this might pan out for you. But, in my opinion, it is quite premature to even think it will destroy Pacifica sales. It will be many miles ahead.

Reports of the Pacifica’s demise are premature. VW Bus is not in the same category, it looks an EV, the Pacifica is an unlimited range PHEV with a gas tank. Size and capacity matter in a minivan, these two vehicles do not seem to be the same size.
